Outlook or Thunderbird?

After writing about IE and Ffox, I gotta be rambling about Outlook and Thunderbird! Well, unlike what you might expect, I am still using Outlook! I am just used to it! I know maybe I should use thunderbird. Joel uses it! But I can't! I gotta be using outlook! Not to mention that on outlook, there is an identity password option which I don't think there is on thunderbird. Well of course, like all microsoft products it is prone to viruses and other sh*t but I mean O.O I like outlook *cries* stop bothering me! *hides*
Well, maybe Joel can post about why he likes thunderbird better :D

prime numbers

One of the hardest things in computer science is solving problems where the number of steps required to solve the problem increase with each step.

Let's say you want to find the highest prime number.
Well, start with "1". "1" can only be divided by itself and "1" (which is also "1" in this case). Well, actually, no......... some people say that prime is neither prime nor composite, it is a special entity called "unity".
Now, we go to the next number, "2". "2" can only divided by itself and "1". So, "2" is a prime number. Go to the next number, "3". To test "3", we must divide by "2" to make sure it is not divisible by "2" to check if it is a prime number. And then, for "4", we must divide by "2" and "3".
And for "5", we mus divide by "2", "3", and "4".

So, imagine how difficult it must be (for and human or a computer) to test if a number in ten thousands or millions is prime!

Well, humans and computers have teamed up to create a bear that will calculate prime numbers!

Open Office

Open Office is a very handy open-source office pack! Indeed, you can work on it like you can work on Microsoft Word, but what's more, you can export documents and make them PDF files! In my previous post, I talked about how I thought that internet documents are better than paper documents in a certain way. Well, Open Office is a free office suite, that you can share because it is free of right. You can download it here.

Enjoy!

if you guys have an idea how to fix this please let me know!

Better than paper!

Why is the internet better than paper? Because it doesn't require you to cut down trees in order to have written documents! Imagine if you need to read a report, and print it, but then your boss makes you print it again because he edited it??? Well, with PDF files, you don't have to worry about that, you just have to edit and save, and email them to the people concerned. No need to print them and then not know where to put the paper you are done with!
Go Internet!
You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader here.

Yahoo! vs Goooooogle

When I discovered the net, I thought yahoo was the way to go: cool search engine, cool messenger, cool "my yahoo" page that allows you to save your bookmaks online, cool personal space on geocities, in short, it ruled!!!then my boyfriend told me about google. no need to say I hated google by that time, well I wasn't used to it at least.now, no need to say it's my reference search engine, blog spot, and even email! easily customizable in outlook/thunderbird, gmail is the big plus! for instance, I think the way yahoo 360° is laid out, it is had to understand at first sight... like although they have this cool blog roll thing, it's not attractive at first sight. I know because I tried it. well of course I didn't look into it as much as maybe I should have but the thing is, if the first impression is bad, most web surfers wont even take a look at the content, they'll just close the window or look for another site.I also tried this xanga thing...it's ok, although I never really got to understanding completely how it works (how come one cannot post comments unless they have signed up first, that's not cool, and it deters many users from leaving comments for Xanga bloggers to read) so I decided to try out blogspot when I heard of it, and honestly I like it, simple design, customizable, and neat. and now, I am sponsored by google. except that I kept my yahoo as a bookmark safe and also my geocities site, because it's cool and easy to customize.

looking for something smart to read?

Ok, now that you have installed firefox, you have to be looking forward to browsing! well it's time to get started!

as you can see, firefox already has a google seach box at the very top right which makes it easy to search for things without having to go to the google search site first. you might also notice that this saves you the hassle of having to install a yahoo!/google/msn toolbar.

now that you know how useful the built-in google search box is, go there and type in "wikipedia". you will soon find at the very top of the list the following site: www.wikipedia.org well, this is the smartest thing to do if you are bored and don't know what to do, learn about something! the web is free (almost, u still have to pay like 30 bucks per month to your provider, but compared to the heap of info you can find online it's a small price, isn't it?) so like i was saying the web is free! there are so many things to learn about! go ahead and learn about something! wikipedia is a great site for that!

if you are not convinced, you might also wanna try www.about.com which is also a good site, although sometimes confusing due to the presence of many links and the lack of other type of content.... but it depends on the sections.

yeah so dont forget to bookmark me, i'll come back later for more! now since ur ass is resting on this chair, at least learn something, u'll go to bed smarter than you were when you got up this morning! ;-)

Firefox vs IE and co.

First, I understand that many people like Internet Explorer because it is the first browser PC users get familiar with: before they know any other bowsers they have to at least open IE and go to a page to DL a different browser... Yet, considering all the options and such, I prefer firefox. the first time i tried it, i wanted ot keep IE, but after a few times i used it, i made up my mind because really, there is no possible comparison.

In Ffox, you have tabs! that saves many windows in your task bar. well of course, some people might say that it is no biggy since with IE u can group the task bar windows into one single bar. BUT! how confusing does it get when u dont know what window you were looking at!!! while with firefox, (like netscape) you can see the tabl with the icon for instance and you immeiately know what tab goes to what site!

also, what firefox has that netscape doesnt have is themes! well i agree the new netscape has IE and Ffox display. but still! isnt it cool to be able to customize your browser the way you want?! Also and yes this is a big no no of firefox, although one can discuss it, in IE you can see the customized scrollbars of the web sites you are browsing, and in Ffox you cant. well that is easily explained: the theme has to be consistant. I guess one could suggest mozilla to make it a toggle option.

As for the other browsers, I haven't tried them all. I know advent browser and real browser (yes the real player browser) work like IE, but then again i like Ffox better!

oh, one last thing about firefox!!!! you can get a sh*tload of really cool extensions!!!!!!!!!!!! like RSS feed and news reader! no need to go to www.cnn.com to read the news, they scroll at the bottom of my screen! how about that?

surfing the net....

surfing the net i got this idea!
it has been almost 3 years that i have been usign the net, why not share my knowledge with others?
